Details of the rankings below:

  • S2E01 - American Duos
    • No notes! Perfect Psych episode. S-tier
      • Ok, some notes (of enjoyment!):
        • Tim Curry!
        • Shawn and Gus singing horrendously badly.
        • Juliet getting hardcore about the dancing.
        • Blueberry gets named!
        • The whole Tim Curry vs Henry Spencer scene is gold!

  • S2E02 - 65 Million Years Off
    • Solid episode.
    • Loved the Shawn vs Carlton angle here. Lassie realized he just can't compete, even if he is on a hot streak.
    • Just good fun (with dinosaurs!) A+ tier

  • S2E03 - Psy vs. Psy
    • Another solid episode.
    • Lou Diamond Phillips absolutely perfect in the guest spot here. Comedy delivery <chef's kiss>
    • MILDRED device!
    • Bianca Kajlich - just amazing.
    • Almost S tier, but not quite: A+ tier

  • S2E04 - Zero to Murder in Sixty Seconds
    • Good episode.
    • Loved Wally (Malcolm Barrett)'s way of speaking in this show.
    • Hilarious Blueberry ride pimping, and a funny commentary on racial profiling.
    • Fun episode. A tier

  • S2E05 - And Down the Stretch Comes Murder
    • Not a lot of notes. After such a strong start to the season, this is the first meh episode.
    • B tier

  • S2E06 - Meat Is Murder, But Murder Is Also Murder
    • Meat is murder, but murder is also murder - great Gus line!
    • Hilarious recap scene where they are hitting each other to pass the lead.
    • Lots of other great little jokes with Gus' uncle.
    • Loved the montage scene of them trying all the different restaraunts.
    • A tier

  • S2E07- If You're So Smart, Then Why Are You Dead?
    • Good. Not one of the great episodes, but I love when Shawn is spouting some malarkey and Gus goes along with it.
    • Physisics!
    • Also I think first utterance of "I've heard it both ways". He had the I've seen it both ways earlier.
    • Juliet fighting to be lead and getting respect, and Lassie actually gives some respect at the end.
    • Great "hang a lantern on it" moment when Shawn says to Henry "slap a wig on you, and you're a spitting image of yourself when I was a kid"
    • A tier

  • S2E08 - Rob-a-Bye Baby
    • Great Karen Vick acting, but aside from that, I found the episode pretty tedious.
    • B tier

  • S2E09 - Bounty Hunters!
    • Fun chasing an escaped convict while being chased by a Bounty Hunter.
    • Camp Tikihama song was great, especially for the closing credits.
    • That almost kiss with Juliet was amazing.
    • All the Shawn and Juliet scenes were great.
    • A tier

  • S2E10 - Gus' Dad May Have Killed an Old Guy
    • I'm not a fan of Christmas themed episodes in general, but this one was good!
    • Get to meet Gus' family, and see all of their ridiculousness.
    • Super Smeller!
    • A tier

  • S2E11 - There's Something About Mira
    • Really enjoyed this one, especially Kerry Washington's interactions with Gus.
    • Jan!
    • Solid A tier

  • S2E12 - The Old and the Restless
    • Alright, at least that gives us the how, now we just gotta figure out the why, which reminds me Gus, will you please get us those tickets to The Who?” Gus: “Where?” {finger point}.
    • Lots of good jokes at the expense of Henry.
    • Solid A+ tier

  • S2E13 - Lights, Camera... Homicidio
    • From the golf cart, Corrrrrrrrine, the prison scenes, the live show with terrible Spanish, the Spanish theme song, just spectacular episode.
    • Not a huge fan of the Juliet and officer pasceretti subplot. But it's not bad.
    • Lavender Gooms!
    • One of the top top tier episodes. Instant classic. Easy S tier

  • S2E14 - Dis-Lodged
    • Not bad, but not great. Not really my kind of episode. B tier

  • S2E15 - Black and Tan: A Crime of Fashion
    • Another instant classic.
    • Not a fan of the final wrap up, but that can be forgiven.
    • Also, the "Treat a woman like a person, then a princess, then a Greek goddess, then a person again." quote makes no sense to me.
      • And it is treated as if it were part of the wisdom from the Rosetta Stone. Just not a great line.
    • Everything else is just great fun. Absolutely S-tier.

  • S2E16 - Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead
    • A night in the museum.
    • Shawn's PI work at the beginning pays off at the end.
    • Ends on a cliffhanger.
    • Good solid episode, A tier

....annnnndd another one done!

A note on my tier list levels - S tier is reserved for something special, something extraordinary. The default Psych episode tier is A. A better than average Psych episode is A+. Something that doesn't quite live up to the high standards of most Psych's is set to B or C tier. C tier will only show up if needed. And none of these tier lists have D or F grades, because I just couldn't do that to a Psych episode.
